Say Goodbye to Thread Veins on Your Face - Save Face

Thread Veins & Broken Capillaries

REMOVE THOSE LITTLE IMPERFECTIONS

An extremely common condition, telangiectasia is the dilation of blood vessels near the surface of the skin, resulting in the appearance of small red spots resembling pin pricks. Smooth Clinic Nuneaton has the training and the advanced spider vein treatment technology to effectively address the condition on the face.

Using the latest in IPL therapy devices, we restore the appearance of the skin to its previous colour and texture, helping people regain confidence.

Spider Vein Treatment: How Does It Work?

IPL is a non-invasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate undesired blood vessels. The IPL generates a pulse of intense, concentrated light which is directed through a small, cooled hand piece which is gently applied to the treatment site. This heat from the IPL seals off the veins, reducing signs of redness quickly and effectively with minimum recovery time.

What are the risks of spider vein removal?

Short-term side effects may include a reddening of the skin over the treated vessels or local swelling which typically lasts less than a day, although it may infrequently last a few days.  Occasionally there can be hyper or hypo pigmentation in the treated area but generally resolves itself after several months.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of spider vein treatments will depend on:

  • The desired degree of blood vessel reduction
  • Hormonal status

  • Area being treated

  • Medication

Typically, two to four Spider Vein treatments are needed for facial vessels. Treatment can be done every 4-6 weeks.

Does it hurt?

You may feel a tingling or snapping sensation like a rubber band. There is no bleeding and no open wound. While some areas of the body like the nose are more sensitive than others, most clients report little or no discomfort. It is advised that post treatment care be followed to reduce any discomfort following treatment.

What happens after treatment?

A mild tingling akin to a sunburn can be felt on the affected area immediately after treatment, but this can be controlled applying ice packs to the area. Swelling and some scabbing can occur in the first two to three days after, but will quickly subside.

Clients are advised to avoid exposure to harsh sunlight in the first four weeks after treatment to protect against hyper pigmentation of the treated area. Exercise is to be avoided for the first 48 hours straight after treatment.

Work and normal activities can be returned to immediately. Results from the treatment can become apparent within two to six weeks. Multiple treatments spaced four to six weeks apart may be necessary to achieve optimum results.

Pigmentation, Sun spots & Freckles

REVIVE YOUR SKIN

If you’re struggling with hyper pigmentation from excessive ultraviolet light exposure – or any other reason including, skin trauma and other congenital and acquired conditions – Smooth Clinic Nuneaton has the solution. IPL pigmentation treatment is a safe, non-invasive way to improve the complexion of your skin. Its use extends beyond the face and can be effective at reducing pigmentation on the neck, arms, hands and the décolletage.

Our extensive experience with this technology means we can deliver exceptional results in a variety of circumstances. Many people choose IPL pigmentation treatment because of its minimal recovery time, low chance of side effects and rapidity of treatment. A range of pigmentation disorders including sunspots, freckling and epidermal brown birthmarks can be treated and their prominence sharply reduced through this procedure, so whatever concerns you have, discuss it with our staff.

IPL Pigmentation Treatment: How Does It Work?

Certain frequencies of light destroy certain chromophores – or the part of a molecule responsible for its colour – on application. This theory is behind the application of several IPL skin rejuvenation procedures. Both laser treatments and IPL use light and heat to destroy chromophores in dyspigmented skin, affecting only the discoloured area and leaving the natural skin tone unaffected.

IPL extends this process by using a range of wavelengths from the visible light spectrum, allowing it to target multiple complaints where individual laser frequencies can only target one. The contact tip of the IPL unit is air cooled to minimise discomfort to the patient, making it a safe, easy and quick treatment that thousands of people around the country use regularly.

What areas can be treated?

IPL Pigmentation treatment is ideal for any part of your face, neck décolleté and hands but can be used on any part of the body with brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.

What do treatments feel like?

When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Gel is essential to cool the skin before treatments. Anaesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required.

How many treatments will I need?

One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun damaged skin.

How long will the treatments take?

Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour.

What do I need to know about after the treatment?

You should also use a good quality sunscreen that protects from both UVA & UVB exposure everyday. It’s also important to use Tyrosinase inhibitor product which helps to stop further production of excess pigmentation.

Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness. Your skin will shed after an IPL treatment. This is normal and intended. It is important to follow the skin care regime given to you by your therapist to ensure the shortest healing time and the best appearance. Shedding will finish between one to two weeks after an IPL treatment, and for facial treatment it is advised that you follow the skin care regime advised by your therapist and to protect your skin from the sun. Multiple treatments may be needed to achieve your intended result dependent on the nature and severity of the pigmentation.

When will I see results?

Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade.

Will the spots reappear over time?

New brown spots may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimise sun damage and the appearance of new sun spots and freckle.
